Why not test their capabilities online for free ?
Most of the listed engines offer a customised scanning
of your files (by drive, folder, or even by file).

F-Secure Online Virus Scanner (version 3.3) is a free service.
Use it to find out if your computer is infected,
and disinfect your computer if needed.
The product will automatically download
the necessary components
and virus definition databases as it is started.
The size of the download package
is about 35 MB incl. databases.
Panda ActiveScan 2.0 is an advanced online scanner
based on Collective Intelligence (scanning in-the-cloud)
that detects malware that traditional security solutions
cannot detect.
Symantec Security Check tests your computer's exposure
to a wide range of online threats.
It's free and an effective tool that helps determine
your Internet security needs.
Offers Security Scan and/or Virus Detection
McAfee FreeScan helps you detect
thousands of viruses on your computer.
Based on the award-winning McAfee VirusScan engine,
FreeScan searches for viruses,
including the latest known "in the wild" viruses,

CA Virus Scanner does not provide information
about its online free scanner.

What is Stickies?
Stickies is a PC utility I wrote to try to cut down on the number of Post-It® notes I was leaving stuck to my monitor. It is a computerised version of those notes.
Main features:
- Once on screen, stickies will remain where placed until closed, even through reboots
- Stickies appearance can be customised; fonts, colours and buttons may be changed, and styles saved.
Stickies can be resized.
- Stickies can snap to each other and to the sides of the screen to keep them neatly lined up
- Stickies can be attached to a web site, document or folder so they only show when it's on screen
- Stickies can be transferred from one machine to another either over a TCP/IP
network connection, or by using an SMTP mail server or MAPI client:
- Hierarchical friends list, which may be automatically transferred from other friends
- Play a sound file on receive
- Signature for transmitted or emailed stickies
- Favourite friends, and custom lists can be made
- Stickies can be hidden for a certain period, until a specified date and time, or to wake
every day, week or month, to act as reminders.
